Personal Injury Claims
Accidents involving personal injury can cause considerable pain, suffering and loss.
Claims for compensation for personal injury can be brought where there has been deliberate or reckless fault by someone else, breach of a duty of care (negligence) or breach of a statutory duty owed by someone else, e.g an employer. Personal injury claims are commonly brought in the following circumstances:-
- Road traffic accidents
- Accidents in the workplace
- A tripping or slipping accident in a store or other building or on a footway (occupiers liability or highway claims)
- A recognised industrial disease contracted through employment e.g dermatitis, asbestosis.
There is a time limit of three years within which a personal injury claims has to be brought, usually running from the date of the accident, but this time can be extended in certain circumstances.
If you have suffered injury as a result of a crime, then you may be entitled to compensation under the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme.
